Our day nursery in Cobham provides high-quality childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years, open 51 weeks of the year. Located in the former St John’s Church Hall in the heart of Cobham Village, The Butterfly Patch Cobham offers a warm, homely environment where babies, toddlers and preschool children can learn, play and grow.
For children aged 3 to 5, our preschool programme incorporates Cambridge Early Years, an international early years curriculum from Cambridge International Education, developed by the University of Cambridge. The curriculum provides a clear learning journey while keeping children's natural curiosity, play and exploration at the heart of their day.
Across the nursery, we also embrace The Curiosity Approach, using natural, real-life, recycled and open-ended resources to encourage children to investigate, create and problem-solve.
From our baby room through to preschool, we provide tailored experiences that support children's development, independence and confidence as they prepare for their next steps.

Cambridge Early Years Learning Centre
At The Butterfly Patch Cobham, we are proud to be a Cambridge International Education Learning Centre. Cambridge International is offered to children aged 3 to 5 in our Bouncing Butterflies preschool room, where it works alongside the EYFS to provide an additional layer of structure and progression to their learning.
Cambridge International is a child-centred, play-based curriculum designed to support children's development and prepare them for their next stage of education. Our practitioners use the curriculum to plan meaningful experiences, observe children's progress and identify appropriate next steps for each child.
The curriculum provides carefully considered learning goals and progression, helping children build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to begin school.
Learning through play
Cambridge International does not replace play with formal teaching. Play remains central to how children learn at our preschool.
Children take part in a mixture of planned and child-led experiences, giving them opportunities to explore, create, investigate, communicate and develop their independence. Our practitioners follow children's interests while introducing experiences that support their individual development.
The Curiosity Approach complements this by providing natural, real-life and open-ended resources. These encourage children to use their imagination, think creatively and explore the world around them.
Our rooms
Our Cobham nursery provides childcare from 3 months to 5 years, with each room designed around the needs, interests and development of its age group.
Glittering Glow Bugs – 3 months to 2 years
A nurturing environment where our youngest children build secure relationships and develop through sensory experiences, play and exploration.
Creative Caterpillars – 2 to 3 years
Children become increasingly independent as they explore, communicate, experiment and develop new skills through practical, creative and play-based experiences.
Bouncing Butterflies – 3 to 5 years
Our preschool room, where children follow the Cambridge Cambridge International Early Years curriculum. They enjoy a balance of planned and child-led activities while developing the skills, confidence and independence they need for their next stage of education.
All our rooms follow the EYFS framework, and The Butterfly Patch Cobham is registered and inspected by Ofsted.
More than a nursery
We provide childcare 51 weeks of the year and accept government funded hours.
Alongside our everyday experiences, children enjoy additional activities throughout the year, including music sessions, language lessons and activities from external providers.
Our rooms are fully air-conditioned to help keep children comfortable during warmer months.
We also offer regular evening sessions, giving families the flexibility to enjoy an evening out while their child continues to be cared for by our team.

Following your visit, our Nursery Manager will send you a registration link. The form takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.
