We share the very sad news today that the writer of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Eric Carle, has passed away at the age of 91.
Thank you, Eric Carle for sharing your great talents of writing and illustrating with so many generations. A truly amazing legacy to leave with little ones.
When asked why he believed why The Very Hungry Caterpillar has remained so popular for over 50 years, Carle said, “I think it is a book of hope. Children need hope. You, little insignificant caterpillar can grow up into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the world with your talent”.
Let’s honour his memory by keeping his books in our nurseries and our homes, bringing hope to children everywhere and at any time.
Whether it’s for our children today in 2021 or for our next generation in years to come.
Rest in peace Eric Carle.
