Here at The Butterfly Patch to celebrate Star Wars day, we want to help you and your little one find your inner Jedi.
But who are the Jedi? And what does it mean to be a Jedi?
If you’ve ever seen a Star Wars film, you’ll know this is a simplified explanation but in short, in the Star Wars universe Jedi are the guardians of peace. They are known for the use of the mystic ‘Force’ which they use to do cool stuff like manipulate objects telekinetically (but for good not fun).
The Jedi Code is all about finding inner peace and serenity, the search for knowledge and embracing the connection between all living things through The Force.
So, what can you do to unleash your inner Jedi at home? We’ve put together a short list of things you can do with your child to be more Jedi!
Reading will help to expand your knowledge, learn new things and can be quite relaxing. Reading more often will help you embrace the Jedi mindset, valuing wisdom and knowledge over all else. Reading with or to your child will instil these values in them early on and encourage reading later on in life.
Be more Jedi! Read daily!
The ancient practice of meditation is said to aid in finding inner peace. It has a wide range of benefits such as helping build skills to manage stress, increasing self-awareness and reducing negative emotions. This is used amongst Jedi to gain new perspectives and finding inner peace.
Meditating can help you discover new things about yourself and find your inner Jedi power. You can do this at any age so why not try meditating with your little one?
Connect with nature
Finally, the Jedi embrace the connection between all living things – this is what they refer to as The Force. They find it vital to connect with nature and other living beings in order to gain a bigger understanding of the universe.
You can do this by spending more time amongst nature with your child: going for walks, camping, gardening, bug hunting and so much more!
Embrace nature, be one with the Force!
These are just three ways in which you are able to find your inner Jedi in everyday life. Each selected from the Jedi code to have a positive influence on you and your little one’s daily life (not just because we are Star Wars nerds!).
Let us know in the comments below - are you embracing the Jedi way this May 4th?
May the 4th be with you!
